When learned that his Fulbright-National Geographic Fellowship application didn鈥檛 make the cut last fall, he quit his job and carried out the proposal on his own, traveling to China to learn about traditional Chinese medicine (documented on Instagram ). When he returned stateside, he took off on a 4,300-mile road trip on his 1982 Honda Nighthawk.
