鈥淭he glory of the聽onesie, in terms of its warmth and convenience, was something I knew that the world needed,鈥 jokes聽28-year-old vice president of sales and marketing聽Mike Mueller.
GetOutfitted rents聽high-end ski kits (Patagonia, Burton) via聽mail聽order,聽but聽Mueller tells聽国产吃瓜黑料聽that he comes from a long line of聽onesie-wearers鈥攈e's the聽third generation in his family鈥攁nd wanted to bring the iconic look back.聽聽
鈥淚t became a staple in my wardrobe,鈥 Mueller, who's been wearing them since he was 18,聽says.聽The idea to add them as an offering聽was a no brainer. In this age of high-tech outerwear, the聽onesie聽is largely worn ironically. 鈥淵our fun meter goes through the roof,鈥 he says.聽
So how does a company collect enough antique ski apparel聽to satisfy nostalgic snow sports enthusiasts? After friends gifted him one for his birthday last October, he tracked the point of purchase down to a thrift store where, he says, the company has purchased around 80 of the ski suits聽made by brands like Obermeyer, Bogner, and The North Face. Mueller, who lives in Colorado Springs, won't reveal the name of the secondhand store聽for fear that it will ge raided. But he did give us a hint:聽the best place to harvest聽onesies聽is somewhere聽“with a lot of ski culture, places where people have been skiing for a long time, especially in the 鈥80s.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 really an art collection more so than it鈥檚 a technical ski collection,鈥 he says.聽
Will GetOutfitted鈥檚 new marketing聽ploy work? We bet it will, but even if it doesn't, we'll still love the ski onesie.聽聽聽
