“Just right” is not exactly a technical attribute, but that’s what testers kept saying about this shoe after subjecting it to a variety of conditions. It’s simply the most versatile runner of the bunch. The Syncro Pace has sufficient motion-control mechanisms to combat mild pronation, it’s light and flexible enough to be a fast-paced trainer, and it has plenty of soft cushioning—in both the midsole and the footbed—for longer runs. I laced it up for Boulder’s CU Turkey Trot 5K and immediately liked its good rebound and ability to sprint at high speeds. The seamless upper fits narrow feet without having to tighten the laces to the point of losing circulation.
Bonus: The shoe has 360-degree reflectivity for running in the dark.
Bummer: Not recommended for high arches. 12 oz; www.pearlizumi.com
