Dane Reynolds, one of the most publicized surfers of his generation and 2010 World Tour number four, underwent arthroscopic surgery recently and will most likely miss the first contest of this year, according to .
“The surgery went really well,” Blair Marlin, Reynolds' manager told Surfline. “The doctor is confident he will be back in the water in six weeks. As of now, it doesn't look like Dane will be competing in the Gold Coast event.”
This news comes amidst doubts of his return to the tour in the first place. Reynolds, who alluded to not competing a number of times last year, may choose to follow free-surfing lifestyle, making movies and traveling the world.
