Police in Denver arrested American sprinter Jeremy Dodson this week, charging the University of Colorado graduate student with nine counts of identity theft and throwing into doubt his scheduled appearance at next week’s world track and field championships in Daegu, South Korea. Dodson, 23, qualified for the U.S. team to Daegu with a third place finish at June’s U.S. championships and would have traveled to South Korea on Monday. A four-time all-American for the University of Arkansas and later Colorado, Dodson was a surprise qualifier in June for the U.S. team. Dodson, now a volunteer coach at Colorado, and will appear in court on August 26, a week before the first 200 meter race at worlds. USA Track and Field has not yet commented on the charges.
