Florida-based company Xero Gravity Action Sports has announced that it intends to build a mega-resort dedicated to extreme sports in Central Florida鈥檚 Osceola County, .
Pending approval by Osceola County officials, the resort would open by 2018. It would include a 250-room Hyatt-branded hotel with a rooftop pool and bar, a 25,000-square-foot skateboard park, a USA-BMX-sanctioned racetrack, two skydiving pods, a rapid river, a 140-foot rock climbing wall, and, perhaps most remarkable, a 14-story ski and snowboard mountain* with nine snow tubing lanes and a snowball fight arena. The resort plans to use an artificial surface called , which is misted with water to allow for skiing and snowboarding.
Xero Gravity Action Sports founder and CEO Larry Walshaw says his new venture will represent a new, exciting approach to the world of extreme sports.
鈥淲e are developing a one-of-a-kind sports and entertainment resort which provides unique hands-on experiences,鈥 Walshaw said in the press release. 鈥淲e will be hosting televised pro and amateur competitions 鈥 with sports shows and clinics, and we will have daily competitions at all venues for visitors who like to compete.鈥
