A pair of runners have completed an unprecedented 10,000-kilometer run of the , the centuries-old trade route linking Europe and China, after arriving in Xi’an later last week. Kevin Lin and Bai Bin left Turkey in April, and ran across Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan before finishing in central China on Friday, averging more than 40 miles per day for 150 days. The run was not without its complications, however: three of the original team members were , and two of the four runners who set out in Istanbul did not finish. Designed as the inaugural event for , an adventure-focused non-profit based in Taipei, “Running the Silk Road” was intended to raise awareness of water shortages in the region.
