After several failed search attempts, the remains of a marine who disappeared in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in northwest Montana were , two years after he went missing. Thirty-year-old Noah Pippin had served three tours of duty in Iraq when he vanished near the . Officials implemented a grid search and “lost person science” to locate the remains in the wilderness, which measures 2,400 square miles. Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton, who visited the site by helicopter on Saturday, believes the veteran died of exposure. 鈥淗e wasn鈥檛 as ill-prepared as we had thought,鈥 Dutton said. 鈥淲e found his sleeping bag, a water jug, his poncho, his hand gun and a small device that plays music (like an iPod). He still had food left, and he did have a map.” Pippin was last seen backpacking 18 miles from the Bob’s perimeter on September 15, 2010, just days before a fierce blizzard swept through the area.
