Officials from the International Cycling Union on Monday announced that Russian cyclist Denis Galimzyanov had recorded a positive test for the blood booster EPO. Galimzyanov, 25, rides for team Katusha and last year won the Paris-Brussels race and took a stage title at the Tour of Beijing. The UCI’s announcement was followed quickly by a post on with a signed admission from Galimzyanov . But as Bicycling writer Joe Lindsey notes, Katusha has long and troubled history with doping, and, coupled with Galimzyanov’s failure to speak directly with the press, the letter only raises even more questions about “what really happened.”
