The 6.3-magnitude that struck Christchurch, New Zealand Tuesday morning has caused extensive damage to the country's longest glacier. The quake shook nearly 30 million tons of ice from the , a 16-mile-long glacier in . The glacier is about 120 miles from Christchurch, on New Zealand's .
The reports that the ice, which fell into Terminal Lake, caused waves more than 11 feet high.
