The UN defends its stance on the role that humans play in climate change, in response to news of leaked emails that purportedly show scientists suppressing evidence to the contrary, reports. “Nothing that has come out in the public as aresult of the recent email hackings has cast doubt on the basicscientific message on climate change, and that message is quite clear–that climate change is happening much, much faster than we realized, andwe human beings are the primary cause,” said UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.
As for the climate change conference underway at , Ban says negotiations are going well. He believes the talks are on track for an agreement “on $10-billion, short-term, fast-track facilities fordeveloping countries over three years until 2012” to help them deal with climate change.
