Lincoln Hall, who was a member of the first Australian team to summit Everest in 1986 and later gained fame after he survived abandonment near the summit of Everest in 2006, . Hall, 56, developed mesothelioma after he was exposed to asbestos while working with his father as a child. In 2006, after he became ill with altitude sickness and was presumed dead.
