After a strong bike leg put him in the lead with New Zealand’s Cameron Brown, Alexander recorded the fastest marathon of his career, 2:38, to seal a nearly three-minute victory over Brown in 7:57:44. “I’ve never felt that bad in a run, but I guess when you run that fast, it’s supposed to hurt,” Alexander said.
