On Thursday, Yeti announced two additions to its acclaimed product line: a and a waterproof聽 (both $300).聽They聽go on sale later this summer.聽
The six-gallon Silo 6G boasts the same rotomolded聽plastic聽construction, over-the-top insulation, and burliness that Yeti coolers are famous for, but in a small, square footprint that sits between the聽 and . It鈥檚 also the brand鈥檚 first cooler with a pour聽spigot, which Yeti says allows for quick filling of water bottles. A steel strip above the spigot protects it from damage in the field or the bed of a truck.
Joining聽Yeti鈥檚 line of waterproof, noninsulated聽Panga duffels, the Panga Backpack 28 uses the same hefty zippers and tear-resistant, waterproof fabric. The single 28-liter main compartment includes a laptop sleeve and聽small mesh聽pouch. For hauling heavy loads, it also has three sturdy carry loops鈥攐n top and on the sides鈥攑lus聽two nylon daisy chains on the front for clipping on gear or lashing to a raft. (Yeti does already have a pack in its line, the , but it鈥檚 primarily a cooler.)
Both聽products are logical evolutions of classic Yeti models.聽When it appeared in 2017, the Panga duffel was a near instant hit, and it quickly聽earned its place as the ultimate bag for river trips. Likewise, after Yeti quickly rose聽to dominate the聽food-and-drink-cooler market, it makes sense for the company to put its stamp on that other kind of cooler聽found at聽campsites, in聽overlanding rigs, and at sporting聽events. Look for our reviews of both products once we鈥檝e put in some time with them.
